TSRF 1/24 Scale races, Christmas Race December 24, 2005

Buena Park, CA

(No-points race)

Steube again, Philippe almost, Mike Hudson and Paul Sterrett close behind.

Mike Steube had some serious competition this time, with both Philippe de Lespinay, Mike Hudson and John Anderson always in contention. Anderson lost the fight when he lost his car onto another lane, the subsequent crash taking Philippe in the process, losing him just enough laps to allow Mike to stretch a 1.5 lap advantage. Paul Sterrett had an uncharacteristic off and that settled him into fourth, while Mike Hudson also suffered a short one, good enough to back him in third after a spirited drive. Both Dennis Samson, still unhappy with his driving and Ridge Ellis showed serious progress, Ridge with a car that was the equal of any. Jim Watterson had one of those days, as well as Greg Carter.

After this very disputed race, Mike Steube volunteered that the effort and concentration needed to drive his car at the limit was of the highest level, and declared that "people who are denigrating the TSRF format are fooling themselves as this is one of the most difficult but most satisfying form of slot racing I have ever encountered."

I have to agree.

The 2005 TSRF champion and former slot car racing star Mike Steube proudly stands, flanked by second-place and former Team Checkpoint team mate Philippe de Lespinay and current USRA racer Mike Hudson, who is learning TSRF racing fast!
