TSRF 1/24 Scale races, October 8, 2005

Buena Park, CA

Steube wins one.

The race for 1/24 scale TSRF cars was run on the "Hillclimb" track.

Race

The track conditions were good. Attendance was lower than in the past week because there was a USRA Division 2 race in Hesperia, and several of the TSRF regulars raced there. Mike Steube had his Courage-Peugeot dialed in and gained 3 laps over Sam Brown still running the same old (but quite quick) Porsche 959. Jim Watterson used his fast Lancia to good effect and was another 2 laps behind.

Ridge Ellis had a new car just fresh from assembly and had his best result yet in 4th place, a clear 8 laps over Daniel Snipes also with a new BMW. Both driver showing strong progress.

Philippe de Lespinay had the fastest car in a new BMW but having geared it wrong, the car had zero brakes, so he kept losing it. He consoled himself with fastest race lap, edging Checkpoint team mate Mike Steube by a mere 5/10000th of a second... (yes, five/ten thousandth, now that is a precise timing device!)

Dennis Sampson had a fast car but is still learning how to drive it, but his lap total is progressing. Tyler Watterson and Ray Gonzales kept being frustrated by their over-active index fingers.

Jim Watterson's Lancia has been one of the most consistent cars in the 2005 series. Full cockpits with drivers as well as proper wheel inserts will be required in 2006.
