TSRF 1/24 Scale races, September 10, 2005

Buena Park, CA

Old man Steube wins at last.

The race for 1/24 scale TSRF cars was run on the "Hillclimb" track just re-assembled after the Nats. Because it was run earlier than usual, several racers showed up too late to enter.

Race

The track conditions were not the best, and the cars were noticeably slower than usual and covered less laps. The race was won by Mike Steube after a fierce battle with Bob Scott and Jim Watterson, all three technically ending in the same lap. Talk about close competition! Behind this trio, Greg Carter was another 8 laps in arrears while Paul Sterrett in an unusual off-day got edged by force of the handicap by Philippe de Lespinay's improved Tamiya-bodies Porsche 961. It won't be long before this car wins overall if the old man can keep it in its slot long enough.

Paul Wilde had off problems, and the rest of the Watterson family just kept losing it, spending plenty of time contemplating their fate.
