TSRF 1/24 Scale races, August 6, 2005
Buena Park, CA
Chris Radisich uber alles as field streches.
The race for 1/24 scale TSRF cars was run on the King track this time, and horsepower made the difference.
Using a former Uncle Kal's rental car, Chris Radisich put a clean 7 laps between hard-chasing Mike Steube and himself. New player Jonathan Forsyth placed third another 8 laps behind and one ahead of Paul Sterrett who lost his grip on the class at least for this week, the last race before the Wing Car Nationals.
Rick Salvino was in net progress and bettered Philippe de Lespinay for 5th, while Scott Jarrett set fastest lap at 6.48" but ran into some mechanical trouble.

| Left to right on the King during the NASCAR race: Paul Sterrett, hopelessly out-powered. Mike Steube, Rick Salvino, Jonathan Forsyth, Sam Brown (who had won the "B" Main and moved up), Chris Radisich, Scott Jarrett and Barry Obler. The fastest motors had been prepared by Monty Ohren, and it showed... |
But his troubles were not over as his motor was found to be illegal: the commutator timing had been altered, possibly by a water break-in method that broke the commutator-retaining tab, giving the motor "automatic advance" and quite a turn of speed. The motor was confiscated and has been destroyed.
Several racers arrived after the race had been started as it was run earlier than usual.
| Rick Salvino also organizes a Vintage NASCAR series using mabuchi FT36D motors and hand-built brass chassis. We are presently preparing a web page to feature this series that we encourage as the cars are the most beautiful exact-scale cars presently run in the United States on commercial tracks to our knowledge. | ![]() |

The great Mike Steube is seen
here winning the Vintage NASCAR race while Salvino is shown still struggling
but quickly progressing with his newly adopted favorite hobby. Rick is a man
of many talents involving creation of molds and figurines of the highest
caliber. Rick is also a Ferrari afficionado and owns no less then TWO
F360's... But no worry, no one needs to secure an audience with the man, he is as friendly as they come. |
