De Lespinay in a daze...
Philippe de Lespinay cruised to a 3-lap win over Paul Sterrett in a race fraught with crashes. Philippe, struck by the current California Flu that affected many of the racers at the Scale nationals in North California, used a borrowed car and controller and dazed his way through the race, avoiding most of the incidents and only getting off one, losing 5 laps. Behind him, Paul did well to finish in second place, a single lap ahead of charging Ken Dylke in one of his rare appearances as a TSR-series driver. Mike Steube had an off-day and kept losing the car on various lanes, obviously not in great form and also suffering from the remains of that flu. John Anderson was next, crashing his way to 5th place. All others were more often off the track than on it, it was that kind of a race.
