John Kallas NASCAR Fords

John is one of the finest slot car builders in California. Some of his latest creations are seen here, a pair of superb NASCAR Ford Taurus to compete in the tough TSR races run in Southern California.

The Ford driven by Mark martin in the 2005 season has been faithfully reproduced by John in the 1/24 scale. The finish is just outstanding and it would surely win the Concours at the next race.

Just to make sure, John also built the Matt Kenseth car as a spare body for the TSR chassis. The rules call for a minimum body weight of 60 grams, and a minimum car weight of 200 grams.

The chassis receives the legal modifications allowed for the class, that are purely for resisting strong impacts against the ever-present wall.

The body is allowed to float from side to side as it helps the car to be more forgiving at the limit. Weight is also a factor. In fact, the car that has won all the local NASCAR races, the Chevy driven by veteran pro-racing driver Mike Steube, weighs in at 225 grams. It works!
