Halloween 2-Hour Enduro, October 28, 2006

Buena Park, CA

Report by Tore Anderson, photos by John Kallas & Josh Bauer

Team "Boola 2" barely over Team "Division 3"!

Furious racing shows Anderson over Radisich by 2 laps after 22 heats. Bauer grinds fastest lap.

Nothing more boring than an endurance race unless it is a Division 3 event using hand-out new motors so as to put them through the test. Well, some made it to the finish line, some others did not.

Anderson's Chevron was painted in the style of Kovacs bodies of the 1960's and looked really good. Note the aluminum exhaust pipes glued in the rear valance.

The chassis is typical Anderson with steel and brass rods mixed, with wide side pans. The Pro-Slot motor design forces the lead wires on one side since it is designed for sidewinder use.

Now, is this a good-looking slot car or what?

The field ready for battle. A total of 11 teams entered, all completed the race except for one that gave up after successive spectacular motor failures.

The Paul Sterrett Chevron, finished in his usual impeccable manner.

The John Kallas-built Chevron, co-driven by Mike Steube.

Dennis Samson brought this Ferrari 330 P4, the pressing of it looking like a modified 1960's Dynamic "Handling Bodies" model.

Mickey Johnston, left, keeping under control, flanked by Keith Tanaka, Roger Vorba, Chris Radisich, Dennis Samson, Jeff Easterly and Tore Anderson.

At the controls is Ken Dylke, always a volunteer when help is needed.

Jeff and Tore keep an eye on their cars, while Mickey and John Kallas are involved in sharing the latest gossip. Roger Vorba and Kyle Matthes are just absorbed in the grind on long driving stints.

Terry de los Santos with Josh Bauer, Paul Sterrett, Mike Steube and Doug Matthes. Gil Gundersen is waiting for someone to put his car back in its legitimate lane.

It's over. Terry unplugs his smoking controller, Rick Salvino0 re-adjusts his eyes, Josh is elated by his finish while John Emmons and Mike Steube listen to the launching story.

The computer shows the verdict. It's a Boola festival out there...
